Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs)https://pilotweb.nas.faa.gov or https://skyvector.com/

  • flight planning purposes
  • provides information to airmen which contains pertinent information to increase air safety
  • applies to all pilots
  • drone operators file a NOTAM only if you have a waiver that requires it
  • purposes
    • avoid temporarily restricted areas
    • inform drone pilots of below-400′ activities (maybe air shows or military training)
    • additional information for drone pilot situational awareness

 

Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs): https://tfr.faa.gov or https://skyvector.com

  • you can NOT fly in an area covered under a TFR
  • must check before each flight
  • TFR operations include airshows, presidential and other VIP visits, etc.
